Teachers of Tomorrow Pipeline Program
“I liked being able to meet new people from many other schools and getting to experience a taste of what college would be like in having classes and a roommate.”
-Teachers of Tomorrow Student
About The Program
The Teachers of Tomorrow Program was piloted in the Summer of 2018 with 10 students. Since then, it has grown to having cohorts of 26 students, which is just a few students short of our goal of 30 students.
In our early years, we were a grant funded program and have since shifted into a gift funded program, however our goals remained the same. We desire to increase the amount of underrepresented students into our teacher pipeline and our teacher education programs, ultimately moving into our Delaware classrooms. As a gift funded program, we are grateful to our donors of their support and commitment to diversifying the teacher pipeline.
In addition to our donors support, we also have strong partnerships with Teacher Academies throughout the state, the Delaware Department of Education, and other educational organizations that help connect us with potential students for our program and connect our students with college planning and scholarship opportunities.
Our program continues to show promise towards efforts to help diversify the teacher pipeline and profession. In fact, in Fall 2023 we had our first UD graduate, Ms. Anij’ya Wilson, enter the classroom as an elementary school teacher in Delaware. In Fall 2024, we had three more students graduate from our teacher education programs and enter the classroom. This year, we anticipating have seven more graduates!
